工业惯性(Industrial inertia),指工业区位形成后,即使原有区位丧失,工厂亦留在原地不易搬迁的特性。例如江西南景德镇的陶瓷工业。
工厂可能会因为其已投资的固定成本(例如厂房)而有工业惯性,也可能是因为以下的原因:
- 和该地区其他活动有连结。
- 该地区有交通优势。
- 该地区有充足的技能劳工。
